The (2014) 35th Annual Pie Festival

September 13, 2014

The Pie Town Annual Pie Festival includes a pie-baking contest, games and races, music, food, arts and crafts, and pie, pie, pie. Admission is free and parking is easy. The festival is held in Jackson Park each year and is a great opportunity to visit with friends, both old and new.

The Festival is organized and operated by the Pie Town Community Council, and is our main fund-raising event. The Council, an all-volunteer organization, performs a variety of essential services in the Pie Town area. The festival would not be possible the help of our volunteers and supporters.

Events loosely follow a schedule.  There are vendors selling food, crafts, and services throughout the day. The last scheduled event in the afternoon is the drawing of this year's winning raffle tickets.  There is a short break in the late afternoon/early evening, then we dance in the pavilion until midnight. Just before the dance starts, we hold a benefit auction for the prize-winning pies from the pie-baking contest.

Why do we have a Pie Festival?

In addition to providing a fun day for children and adults alike, festival proceeds fund the council and our town for the upcoming year and vendors play an important part.

It's fun having the jewelry, food and other goodies.  At the same time, the vendor fees help the council do it's work. An example: the council uses festival proceeds to help community families experiencing financial hardship due to catastrophic events in their lives.

The council gives a small scholarship to a promising high school senior in the 87827 zip code each year.

Also, the council "gives back" to the community by subsidizing monthly dances, bingo, a Christmas dinner etc..  And finally, keeping the community up and running, cleaning the park, procuring supplies for the small repairs made by council/community members, hiring workpersons for the major repairs and maintaining/upgrading our town (new picnic tables, adding a basketball court, helping our paramedics etc.).

Where and When is the Pie Town, New Mexico Annual Pie Festival?

As always, the Pie Festival will be held on the Second Saturday of September. This year it will be held on September 13, 2014.   Please check the schedule on this page for times and locations of specific events.

The festival is held in Jackson Park (75 acres of free dry camping) and other nearby locations — don't worry, once you get to Pie Town you can't miss it.
